Intellian’s Low-Earth Orbit Satellite Communications Antenna Solution Becomes More Compact and Affordable with New Iridium Launch Certus C200 Maritime

Intellian Technologies, Inc., the world’s leading provider of satellite communications technology and solutions, announced the development of the new Iridium Certus® C200 Marine Terminal – a more compact and lightweight version that joins the industry-leading C700 Marine Terminal. The technology will be unveiled for the first time at the Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Conference (SMM), in Hamburg, Germany, with product delivery expected in spring 2023.

The Intellian C200 Maritime terminal is the latest product developed at Intellian’s new L-Band Center of Excellence in London, UK. Designed for truly global, low-latency Iridium Certus service, the terminal offers customers a truly agile and adaptable satellite communications system for all segments of the maritime market.

The Intellian C200 Marine Terminal is so compact and lightweight that it can fit any size vessel, including Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs), and can be easily carried on board and installed by one engineer. It also shares many underlying features and technologies with the market-leading Intellian C700 marine terminal known for its reliability and performance. It can be configured as a standalone terminal or as a VSAT companion and offers IP data speeds of up to 176 Kbps (up and down). It also allows multiple simultaneous phone calls through three simultaneous high-quality voice lines. The C200 terminal is a robust and feature-rich L-band solution. Essential features include built-in firewall, IP PBX, WAN port, and Wi-Fi. Additionally, due to its stability and reliability, it provides the ideal foundation for future Iridium-based security services. Certus, such as the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).

Applications such as safety, deck communications and crew welfare, connected vessel IoT features such as engine monitoring and remote diagnostics, and situational awareness reporting to a lower scale, all become more efficient through connectivity. Consolidating all of these features into a single package simplifies installation and configuration and eliminates the possibility of conflicts that can arise when these features are delivered using connected equipment. This C200 terminal opens up these solutions to more cost-sensitive sectors.

Eric Sung, CEO of Intellian, said, “It’s great to see the value of our dedicated L-Band Center of Excellence, with focused resources and expertise, developing innovative products to benefit our customers. We are happy to extend our partnership with Iridium, our collaboration so far has been a great success, and we are excited about what the future holds.
