Logitech G705 gaming mouse review: compact and comfortable

. Last update: July 27, 2022

The Logitech G705 gaming mouse is part of the company’s all-new line of Aurora peripherals designed for a different audience and aesthetic, but is it any good?

The Logitech G705 might appear at first glance to be just another gaming mouse claiming to offer something different, but as is the case with other Logitech Aurora peripherals, it’s tailored and designed for smaller hands, while still being incredibly comfortable in hand, and boasts fantastic battery life.

Magnets! How do they work?!

While certainly not as light as other mice on the market, the Logitech G705 Wireless Gaming Mouse is certainly compact. From the moment we took it out of the packaging, the mouse surprised us with its small size. Luckily for us, we have pretty little hands, and that made it super easy to transition to our regular Razer Naga Pro.

The G705 looks very premium, despite being made up of several pieces of plastic, all stuck together. There are tiny seams on the body, all of which are flush with the smooth matte white surface. We’re concerned that these tiny seams will pick up dirt over time, and in our testing we found that they did manage to pick up some grime.

Across the edges and center of the mouse is a diffused panel of translucent plastic, which lights up dramatically in hues of pink and blue, which vibrate through the G705.

With a small detachable magnetic plate to store the USB receiver, the whole thing looks cohesive, premium, and different from the rest of the gaming mice on the market. Yeah, its specs aren’t really anything groundbreaking, but this mouse isn’t really about performance, the G705 is all about feel.

From the matte white shell to the sleek stock lighting and the size of the mouse itself, the G705 is a mouse that cares more about how it feels in your hand and how it looks on your desk than raw performance. .

The long battery life means you’ll only really be charging it once a week at most, as we found, and it easily fits into your setup without any issues.

Gaming performance

Although it may not look like it, the G705 is still a gaming-grade wireless mouse. As we mentioned, its specs are nothing spectacular, and honestly on the low end for this price, although it didn’t really affect our gaming performance on a number of titles, including including CS:GO and Final Fantasy XIV.

Lightspeed wireless keeps everything nice and snappy, with no noticeable input lag on the G705 itself, helping you keep your desk tidy, while still managing to game on it. You won’t be able to win any tournaments with this mouse, but rather it sits between the lifestyle and gaming markets.

If it’s gaming performance you’re looking for, then you should be looking at one of the best gaming mice instead, all of which will perform much better in gaming scenarios than the G705.

Raw performance aside, the weight of the mouse is certainly not the lightest on the market and instead offers a stable middle ground that most users will find comfortable.

The form factor allows you to grip the mouse in a number of different ways, but for this one in particular, we found the claw grip worked best in most titles we tested. Size can be an issue for those with large hands, in which case you may need to look for an alternative.

But, if you have small hands, you should definitely consider the G705. The mouse’s sweeping curves make it incredibly comfortable to use during long gaming sessions, and the long battery life ensures you won’t get disconnected mid-game.

Should I buy it?

G705 Gaming Mouse with Other Aurora Series Peripherals

Logitech’s other “Aurora” peripherals are a great match.

The Logitech G705 gaming mouse offers great connectivity, adequate gaming performance, and stunning aesthetics that stand out from many other gaming mice on the market.

While the $99 price tag is a tough pill to swallow for the performance you get from the mouse, it’s still an incredibly cohesive package. If you have the Logitech G715, you can even use a single dongle to connect to both devices.

The Logitech G705 isn’t bad by any means, and it performs well on fronts that aren’t just about performance. All of this translates into a gaming mouse that focuses primarily on adapting to you and your life, rather than the aggressive specs of other gaming mice. Did we mention the pastel colors are to die for?

The Logitech G705 gaming mouse will be released in August 2022.
